Usually Mud pies are good - but my wife won a competiion (through Sea and Spud, Petersfield) to win 52 Mud pies for a year. It was to create a pie filling and her winning formula consisted of cod, smoked haddock, salmon and prawn. The competition was on Facebook. After many months of waiting, and though the pastry and flavour was nice, the filling was hugely disappointing. We donated most of the pies to charity and friends - the majority had not even one prawn in, nor smoked haddock. Many had 2 tiny bits of fish in (salmon and, I presume, cod). They were very, very poor.
Best pies we have ever tried! We go to the local market every first of the month just to buy a couple. And they are gone if we arrive a bit too late!
The best of pies with a delicious filling full of flavour and great pastry.
Had a chicken, ham and leek pie a couple of months ago from Guildford farmers market it was one of the nicest pies I had eaten simply delicious so nice that I went back and brought some more including the lamb pie unfortunately the chicken pie wasn't so good not a lot of filling and more ham than chicken however the pastry was still the same very tasty.Hopefully this was just a one off.
